Brazen Gate to All Saints Green

Project outline
The aim of this project was to redesign the junction of All Saints Green, Brazen Gate and Queens Road to provide better infrastructure for cyclists using the yellow pedalway. Measures taken were designed to reduce delays for cyclists and improve connectivity and comfort along the routes.
The project built on the completed changes around Westlegate, which have significantly reduced traffic levels in All Saints Green.
Details of work
- Upgrade of traffic signal equipment and modifications to pedestrian crossings at Queens Road junction
- Replacement of existing signalised crossing on Grove Road with a zebra crossing
- New zebra crossing on Brazen Gate, south of Grove Road junction
- Carriageway surfacing on Brazen Gate
- New cycle lanes on Brazen Gate and All Saints Green (between Surrey Street and Queens Road)
- Kerb realignment on Grove Road at its junction with Brazen Gate
- Installation of an enforcement camera at Grove Road bus gate
- Landscape planting at junction of Grove Road/Brazen Gate
Reasons for work:
- Improve the yellow pedalway route for cyclists on All Saints Green and Brazen Gate
- Improve the pedestrian crossing facilities at Queens Road junction with Brazen Gate and All Saints Green
- Improve the crossing facilities for pedestrians on Brazen Gate and Grove Road
- Replace signal equipment at the end of its life
- Repair worn out carriageway
Background
Approval to consult on these proposals was agreed at the Norwich Highways Agency Committee on Thursday 16 March 2017.

Approval to construct the scheme was given at NHAC on Thursday 21 September 2017.
These proposed changes are part of the Norwich Area Transportation Strategy (NATS), known as Transport for Norwich. The principles of the project were agreed following consultation as part of the NATS Implementation Plan, which was adopted in 2010 and updated in 2013.
