Head of Trading Standards
The aim of the Trading Standards Service is to put consumer problems right or, better still, to prevent the problems arising in the first place. The ways in which we achieve this aim are laid out in our Service Plans.
In general we achieve this through provision of:
• Information, advice and assistance for individual consumers.
• Information, advice and support for businesses.
• Policing the market place to ensure fair competition and consumer protection.
• Enforcement action including prosecution of dishonest traders
