Fostering

Make a difference…
fostering Norfolk's future

reCould you make a difference to the life of a child in need?

Fostering gives you a chance to do just that.

Most children in care in Norfolk are looked after by Norfolk County Council foster carers, with more than 500 children and young people fostered in the county on any given day. In foster placements children are being helped through difficult times, taking time out from a stressful family situation or finding a long term or permanent family.

Foster carers provide children and young people with a home if their parents cannot look after them for any reason. Their parents may be suffering illness or depression, or have problems with drugs or alcohol. Some children may have been abused or neglected. Older children may be having difficulties with their parents or new members of the household. It is usually temporary, whilst social workers, along with other professionals, help the family with their problems, with the aim of returning the child home safely. Children who cannot return home may need a long term foster placement, an adoptive family or permanent foster family.
