City centre improvements - Golden Ball Street

We have plans for changes traffic flow in Norwich city centre to Golden Ball Street, All Saints Green, Westlegate and the surrounding area.

These proposals, drawn up by Norwich City Council and Norfolk County Council include; the creation of more pedestrian areas and the removal of traffic lights and kerbside barriers at a number of junctions.

The plans build upon other 'Transport for Norwich' projects such as the recent changes in St Stephens Street, Chapel Field North, and Rampant Horse Street.

They are designed to be another step forward in supporting the vitality of the city centre, reducing conflict between vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists, while maintaining access for all modes of travel - car, bus and taxi, motorcycle, bicycle and walking.

The principles of the changes have already been consulted upon and agreed as part of the 2010 Transport for Norwich Implementation Plan, updated in 2013. The proposal was agreed by city and county councillors at the 17 September 2015 Norwich Highways Agency committee. This followed a consultation held during the summer of 2015.
