Have a naming ceremony

Naming ceremonies are a special way to celebrate the arrival of your baby, or to welcome adoptive children or step-children into their new extended family.

Although naming ceremonies have no legal status, they offer an opportunity for parents to celebrate a new arrival into the family with the people closest to them, in a non-religious ceremony and setting.

You can hold your ceremony at one of our registration offices, at a venue licensed by the County Council, or at a place of your choosing.

If you are planning to hold your ceremony at an approved venue, you will also need to ensure your local registrars are available to conduct your ceremony.  Do not pay a deposit until you have done this.

To discuss and plan your naming ceremony contact our ceremony team on 01603 223777.  You can leave a message on our voicemail service and we will respond within three working days.
