Arts, heritage and tourism

EU funding can support many tourism and arts businesses with new developments that increase visitors and enhance the tourism economy. In some areas, it can also enable projects which celebrate shared cultural heritage across EU borders. Generally projects need to benefit the economy.

Project examples

Norman Connections connected and promoted heritage sites in England and France with a shared Norman past

Norman Connections brought together castles and other heritage sites in England and Normandy with a shared Norman history in a joint interpretation and promotion project supported by the Interreg IVa France (Channel) England programme.

Shaping 24 was a partnership between groups of heritage sites in Norwich and Ghent. The project was supported by the Interreg IVa 2 Seas programme and collaborated to test similar approaches to heritage promotion in two cities with a rich past.

Funds to consider

  • Interreg Va France (Channel) England programme is looking for projects which 'realise the potential of the common natural and cultural assets to deliver innovative and sustainable growth'.
  • LEADER supports rural tourism and cultural and heritage activity.
  • EAFRD supports rural tourism infrastructure and cooperation projects.
