Older People's Care Homes

The work being undertaken by Norfolk County Council in the older people's residential and nursing market is focused on delivering the following outcomes:

  • The Council has confidence in the current residential and nursing care provision across Norfolk to meet the capacity and care needs of individuals
  • Providers and the Council have an open and transparent relationship that is built on trust and strong partnership working
  • Providers are delivering high quality care

The Older People's Care Homes Dashboard is produced to support and measure this work, is updated monthly and includes:

  • Location of care homes and type (residential or nursing)
  • Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection ratings
  • Care homes registered for dementia by CQC
  • Number of beds from CQC, and estimated occupancy based on last CQC inspection
  • Projected over 75 population increases
  • Projected number of additional places required in future
  • Location of care homes in the planning or development stage

The analysis is Primary Care Network (PCN) based. PCNs are geographical and administrative areas being adopted by Health, social care and other agencies to deliver services in, and to identify demand and usage of services. Norfolk and Waveney Sustainability and Transformation Partnership (STP) contains 17 PCNs, 15 in Norfolk and 2 in Suffolk. The dashboard covers the 15 Norfolk PCNs.
