What we have done to transform mental health services

Since autumn 2016, our work has focussed on mental health services bought by us and NHS Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs).

This includes:

  • Supported living
  • Support to people with mental health needs to obtain or retain their own housing
  • Personal assistants supporting people to meet their social care needs

During 2017, we worked with people who use services, providers and other partners to redesign these services to:

  • Support social inclusion
  • To reduce isolation
  • To ensure services provided for individuals in the community, work together in a more joined-up way

The service was put out to tender and a number of providers came forward with new service models.

In October 2017, the contracts for the new services were awarded. They went to a partnership of local mental health service providers working together.
