Norfolk Assistance Scheme (NAS)
Timescales and making an award
How long does it take to process the application?
When we receive your completed application we will call you. This will usually be:
- Within 48 to 72 hours if your request is for food or fuel
- Within five working days for household items
We will discuss how much help you need and how urgent it is.
If we need further evidence to process your application we will give you a cut off date to get this to us.
Food and fuel applications are dealt with as quickly as possible, depending on demand.
It can take up to 10 days to make a decision on an household items application, once we have all the information to make the assessment.
If you have not heard from us after 10 working days call the Norfolk Assistance Scheme (NAS) team on 01603 223392 and select Option 5. Please be patient, as we are experiencing high call volumes.
You could also speak to your support worker if you have one.
If your application is not successful
We will suggest other organisations, schemes or charities that might be able to help you. You can also look on the Norfolk Community Directory to see if there are other organisations who can help.
You can appeal if you want the decision to be reviewed. The NAS manager will do the review. It will take place within 10 working days.
Applications made with the intent of selling goods awarded by the Norfolk Assistance Scheme will be deemed fraudulent and will be investigated. This may result in the removal of any goods awarded.
