Norfolk Fostering Service (NFS) pays its foster carers a generous allowance for caring for some of Norfolk’s most vulnerable children.
The amount foster carers get paid depends on the age of the child and the accreditation level of the foster carer. The higher the accreditation level, the higher the allowance.
Accreditation levels are based on a person’s relevant experience, skills and qualifications.
If you have been fostering successfully for an independent agency for at least 12 months and you decide to move to us and are approved, you will join our register at Level 5, our highest payment level.
For full details regarding fees and allowances see our Foster Care Payments Information and Guidance 2018-19.
The fees and allowances you receive for fostering are considered differently to other income for both benefits and tax purposes. Getting fees and allowances for fostering may not affect any benefits you receive. There is also a separate, generous tax allowance.
