Norfolk in Care Council regular meetings

Following feedback from our young people, we offer a mixture of face to face and virtual meetings. However you'd like to take part, there is something for you to get involved in.

Shout Out sessions

These are termly fun events in the school holidays, involving a selection of different games and some informal discussions. We aim these at those aged 12 and under, but anyone is welcome. Older members can help us run games and events.

Voice groups

Face to face meetings in each locality (including City and South, North East and Broadland, and West and Breckland). We will run sessions each month, and rotate them around the three localities. This will make sure there is a meeting near you at least once every three months. We also run a virtual meeting every month, so that you can take part when we are not in your area. The Voice meetings were previously aimed at 13 - 17 year olds but we are happy to open these meetings up to anyone who would like to attend. These meetings are a mixture of:

  • Making sure you can catch up and socialise
  • Working on projects that you feel will improve the care system

Young Adult Forum

This is a group especially for NiCC members aged 18 plus, whose case is still open to a life beyond care team. We run these meetings virtually every month, with opportunities to meet in person at times.

UASC Forum

The UASC Forum is a group for Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children and Young People. We run these meetings virtually every month, and we are planning to run face to face meetings in the future.

Newsletter group (the Scoop)

This group makes our newsletter (called the Scoop), which we publish every quarter. This group decides on topics, writes articles and chooses the pictures. We run this group virtually every two weeks, so that everyone can take part, from across the country. We plan to meet face to face once for each issue, to make final decisions and celebrate the publication.

We invite all those who attend our regular meetings to join us for extra fun and social activities. The regular meeting groups will decide these activities. Previous events have included:

  • Christmas meals
  • Snow tubing activities
  • Visits to Pleasurewood Hills
  • Picnics and games

To join any of these meetings, email us at csparticipationteam@norfolk.gov.uk and we will contact you with dates and locations.
