We all want to have fun, enjoy our hobbies, follow our interests, relax with friends, or go out for a day trip with our family.

Search the Norfolk Directory for things to do for children and young people with SEND that are suitable for the whole family. You can also find mainstream clubs and activities which are accessible to children and young people with SEND. 

Are you 18-30 years old, unemployed or working less than 16 hours a week?

The Prince’s Trust has a limited number of free places on its four-day enterprise courses, which are all about helping you plan and start your own business.

To find out more, you can book a place on one of our informal information sessions in Norwich, which tell you about:

  • Free four-day business start training

  • Low-interest loans which may be available

  • Help with market research and writing a business plan

  • Free mentoring support for two years or more

  • Other advice and help

Information sessions take about an hour and a half, and usually start at 1pm.

Your Own Place tenancy courses are like no other! No two courses are the same and they’re jam packed with engaging activities, resources, people and information. We work with young people from all backgrounds. They may be leaving care, leaving school, leaving prison, leaving supported accommodation, going to college or university or just leaving home for the first time. We can take the stress and anxiety out of this transition.

Who is it for?

Young people, parents, carers and professionals across Education, Health, Social Care and other partner agencies involved with the transition planning of young people with additional needs preparing for adult life.

Duration:

This is a one day training session spilt into two parts.  Attendees can choose either one or both sessions.

Part One: Awareness training – The purpose of this session provides a basic understanding of transition planning and the law.

Part Two: Workforce Development training – The purpose of this session is to promote the legal duties and responsibilities across a multi-agency network of professionals.

AJ’s is a social inclusion project for young people (aged 13 - 25) with learning difficulties and disabilities, using music and dance to inspire.

This event is an inclusive event so family, friends, support workers and carers are welcome to attend.

This performance is described as the ‘relaxed’ performance, particularly suitable for people with autism, or those who might want to ‘pop in and out’ during the performance if staying for the whole show is too much.

BUILD volunteers will be in and outside the auditorium, to make sure that people who may not be used to going to the theatre feel comfortable.

Signalong is a system of signs based on British Sign Language which is designed to help people with communication difficulties to understand and express their needs, choices and desires.

The six-week Signalong foundation training course will teach participants all the skills necessary to gain access to the entire Signalong vocabulary.

Cost: £75 which includes an adult learning disability core vocabulary manual and a Signalong certificate.  Participants will be invoiced for the fee.

This is an accredited course and suitable for anyone who provides support for those who use Signalong as part of their communication.  It aims to develop the skills learners already have, to understand the communication process and develop learners abilities to communicate with those who have communication impairments.

Who should attend: Anyone who has previously completed a Signalong phase 1 course.

Course objectives:

  • Develop skills
  • Further understand how sign supported communication supports children and adults with speech, language and communication needs
  • Practice using signing skills and signs to interact and communicate with others
  • Learn 346 new signs

Certification: Accredited certificate (if the examination is not passed at end of course a certificate of attendance will be given).  All learners will be required to complete a written test at the end of the course and throughout the course their practical work will be observed.

Dates: Saturdays – 3, 10 and 17 March 2018.  Total duration 15 hours
