What is a children’s community learning disability nurse?
CCLDN’s are specifically trained learning disability nurses registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
We work with children, families and staff within settings eg schools to help manage behaviour, communication and mental health difficulties, using a variety of skills and techniques.
Work may include training for parents using specific training approaches such as Cygnet for autism.
We work jointly with other professionals who are involved with the child to monitor and review the care needed
Is the role known by different names in children’s services and adult services?
There are learning disability nurses that work within adult service teams.
