Access to higher education courses

Our access to higher education (HE) programmes are full level 3 qualifications, equivalent to 3 A levels, but studied in one year.

There are four pathways: Access to HE - Health Professions, Access to HE - Psychosocial Studies, Access to HE - Nursing and Midwifery and Access to HE - Sociology and Criminology.

If you complete the course successfully, you can use this qualification to get on to your chosen university course to study for a degree in many different subjects including: nursing, midwifery, paramedics, psychology, physiotherapy and social work.

We also offer a pre-access to HE course, so if you do not yet have the qualifications to enrol onto the full course, this will support you to achieve a level 2 qualification and progress onto your chosen pathway.

You can apply for a learner loan (like a student loan) to cover the cost of the course, and in some cases, childcare costs. In some circumstances you do not have to repay the loan.

To find out more about financial support for your learning, see our course fees and financial help page.
