Summer Buddy Service travel training

The TITAN team offers support to students who:

  • Are moving onto college or other educational establishments
  • Need support with undertaking the new journey.

Support is offered via our ‘Summer Buddy Service’. Our team of travel trainers work 1:1 with students across the summer months. They take the student from their home (or a meeting point) to their new college or educational establishment, and back again. With each journey we hope to build the student's skills and confidence levels, until they are competent to undertake the journey independently.

Summer Buddy Service training includes:

  • Bus routes
  • Road safety
  • Stranger danger awareness
  • What to do in an emergency

What happens if the student doesn't become an independent traveller?

We recognise that not every student will be an independent traveller once they have worked with a TITAN trainer. In such cases eligible students will be offered bespoke transport support.

If a student, or parents, decides to opt out of the Summer Buddy Service, the student will still be able to get Post 16 transport support. This is usually a subsidised pass on public transport.
