Books and reading

The homepage of the library catalogue is a great place to visit for reading ideas.  You’ll find new books, TV and film tie-ins, book awards, books to help your health and wellbeing, Story Sacks and Reminiscence kits.

Book review blog

You can add a book review and star rating to the library catalogue for books, films and music that you’ve borrowed.  Visit the homepage of the catalogue to login to your account – you’ll need your library card number and PIN.  Search for the item you would like to review or give a star rating to – click on the title and select "Add your review".

See what books are being recommended by library staff and customers on our book review blog.  Recommend a book you've enjoyed and we'll post it.

Donate books to the library

We're happy to accept donations of books if they are:

  • In new condition
  • Less than three years old

We also welcome older items of local interest.

All items are examined by library staff and distributed to where they're most needed so we can't promise to place donated items in specific libraries.

If we decide that your donations can't be added to our collections, we may sell them.  All proceeds will be used to improve our services.

If we're unable to accept your donations you could take them to charity shops or second-hand bookshops instead.
