Renewing expired library cards

Normally your library card expires every three years. This is so we can make sure that your account information is still correct.

However, during the closure of libraries due to the coronavirus lockdown, we automatically extend the expiry date on library accounts by two months on a rolling basis and will continue to do so until the lockdown period ends. This means most people will still be able to use their library accounts as usual to borrow books, eBooks and eAudio titles, and to read eMagazines.

If your account expired before 21 March 2020, you can renew your account by emailing us at libraries@norfolk.gov.uk and confirming that your address has not changed since the last time your account expired. If your address has changed, please include an electronic proof of your new address. If you cannot provide the proof electronically, we will re-register you as a lite member, which will not affect your ability to borrow eBooks etc. As a lite member you will still be able to borrow books, but only up to a maximum of two titles at a time (once libraries are reopened). To be reinstated as a full member, you will need to visit one of our libraries when they reopen to show us proof of your new address.
