Twitter to tell a day in life of Norfolk's #socialworkers
20 March 2017
Social workers at Norfolk County Council who work with vulnerable children, young people and adults are hosting a special Twitter day this Tuesday (21 March), to encourage greater awareness of the work they do across the county.
The day is timed to coincide with World Social Work Day 2017 and over the course of the day, staff and partners will be tweeting their experiences of what a Social Worker’s typical day can comprise – from working with a young person leaving care to making arrangements for an older person to return home from hospital.Norfolk County Council has over 600 social workers helping some of the most vulnerable people in our communities and this “day in the life“ will highlight how they are embracing new ways of working and respond to challenges and opportunities to ensure they are making a real difference to people’s lives.
Norfolk County Council’s Leader Cliff Jordan said: “This day will showcase the work of our social workers - people who work in incredibly challenging circumstances to protect, care for and keep safe Norfolk's most vulnerable residents.
"The vast majority of their work goes completely unnoticed. That, of course is a tribute to their good practice, but this day will be a chance for them to demonstrate their professionalism and dedication to their role and an opportunity for us to get a better understanding of the work they do - and to recognise and thank them."
