Work to start next week on key road junction in Hockering
04 January 2018
Work will start on Monday 8 January 2018 to change the priority at the junction of Stone Road (C493) with Heath Road (C173), Hockering, to discourage traffic from travelling through Hockering village to reach the A47.
The scheme, costing £100,000, involves converting the junction into a bend linking Heath Road and Stone Road. The work, which is expected to take four weeks to complete (by Friday 2 February), includes construction of new carriageway to improve the radius of the bend, and kerbing, surfacing, lines and revised signs.
Stone Road will be closed throughout the works (diversion details below), and Heath Road will be subject to two-way temporary traffic lights, with two overnight closures (8pm to 6am) on Wednesday 31 January and Thursday 1 February.
The work, which is in addition to measures in Hockering village to support and extend speed limits, is required under the Development Consent Order for Norwich Northern Distributor Road and will be carried out by Norfolk County Council’s Community and Environmental Services Department and their contractors.
