NDR Traffic Update No 75 – North Walsham Road night closures – Plumstead Road update
08 February 2018
The B1150 North Walsham Road and Crostwick Lane, Spixworth, will be closed overnight (8pm to no later than 6am) on Monday 12 February and Tuesday 13 February to plane out, surface and white line the revised junction.
The Crostwick Lane junction with North Walsham Road is being re-shaped following the permanent closure of Rackheath Lane opposite. The surfacing is programmed for Monday night (12 February) and the white lining for the following night (Tuesday 13 February). The roads will both close at 8pm, reopening as soon as work allows, but no later than 6am.
The main diversion for B1150 traffic will be (from Norwich direction) via the A1270 Norwich Northern Distributor Road, the A140 Cromer Road to Hainford, and B1354 to Horstead/Coltishall where traffic re-joins the B1150. Local traffic between Norwich and Spixworth will be able to use White Woman Lane and Buxton Road.
Plumstead Road – reopening later next week
The reopening of Plumstead Road, which has been closed east of Thorpe End since mid-January to complete its connection to the A1270 NDR, is likely to be postponed until Thursday (15 February). This is a day later than on the on-street signs. Unfortunately it is not possible to switch to temporary traffic lights because of the risk of traffic queueing across the nearby railway level crossing.
The shuttle bus serving Thorpe End will continue to run until the road has reopened.
Reopening of Middle Road, Great Plumstead
The bridge carrying Middle Road across the A1270 dual carriageway is expected to be complete next week, reconnecting Great Plumstead with Green Lane North. The date and time of reopening will depend upon progress over the next few days.
Smee Lane and Low Road
As soon as Middle Road opens, Smee Lane will close permanently. Low Road will stay open until Plumstead Road is back in use (see above), when it will also close for good. Both lanes have suffered under heavy traffic during the closure of Plumstead and Middle roads and will be tidied up once closed to through-traffic.
