Print to the People to open studio at Wensum Lodge
06 February 2020
Print to the People is opening a new site at Wensum Lodge that will be dedicated to the art and craft of Letterpress printing. The new space will offer opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to get inky and learn about this popular process.
From the new ‘Letterpress at the Lodge’ studio, Print to the People will run workshops, courses and open-access sessions throughout the year as well as working with Norfolk County Council on activities to complement its on site Adult Learning programme.
The new tenancy will support Norfolk County Council’s vision for Wensum Lodge, which will sympathetically transform the historic site into a contemporary creative hub for the region. Promising high specification teaching spaces and craft workshops, it will offer unique and accessible routes to participation and training in arts and cultural activities. Rental studios for artists, designers and makers alongside state-of-the art meeting, events and conference facilities will make Wensum Lodge an exceptional place for creative businesses to thrive.
Jo Stafford, Studio Manager, Print to The People, said: “We are very excited to be a part of this new vision for Wensum Lodge. Letterpress has always been one of our most popular processes, but we have been unable to expand the offer from our space on Pitt Street. This new sister site will enable us to grow our Letterpress and engage a new generation of printers!”
Councillor Margaret Dewsbury, Cabinet Member for Communities at Norfolk County Council, said: “We are delighted to welcome Print to The People to Wensum Lodge at what promises to be an exciting time in the site’s future. There is a huge opportunity for PTTP to work in collaboration with Adult Learning, who have been based at Wensum Lodge for more than 40 years, and to enhance our strong creative course offer.”
A launch event for ‘Letter-press at the Lodge’ will take place at Wensum Lodge on 14 March, 11am - 3pm.
