Reaction to the Norfolk Safeguarding Adults Board's report on three deaths at the Cawston Park private hospital

09 September 2021

Today, the safeguarding adults board published a report into the deaths of Joanna, Jon and Ben at the privately run Cawston Park hospital.

The full report and the board's press release are available on the Norfolk Safeguarding Adults Board website.

James Bullion, executive director of adult social services at Norfolk County Council - which flagged safeguarding concerns at the hospital - said: “"The deaths of Joanna, Jon and Ben were tragic and entirely avoidable. The words of Ben's mother should shame us all into taking action - we cannot allow people to be treated this way.

“This independent report gives the Government, the NHS, the CQC and social care the push we need to reform support for the most vulnerable people with learning disabilities and autism.”
