Butterfly Mill

Butterfly Mill is a residential development of over 125 homes, located on Mill Lane off the A1149 Holt Road, in Horsford. The site is approximately 10km North West off Norwich and 9.5km south of Aylsham.

There are no bus stops located within the site. The nearest bus stops are approximately 500m away on Holt Road, outside the Brickmakers Public House at the south western end of Mill Lane. A number of bus services operate from these stops, linking to Norwich, and Long Stratton.

There is a lack of recognised cycle networks in the area with the nearest route being the Yellow Pedalway linking Norwich Airport and Norwich city centre. National Cycle Network route one (Marriott’s Way) linking Aylsham and Norwich is accessible within 4.2km in either a north westerly direction via Felthorpe or south westerly direction via Drayton from the Butterfly Mill site.

There are no train services in the proximity of the development with the closest railway station being Norwich approximately 10km away. The station is equipped with 158 sheltered cycle spaces with CCTV coverage, and 67 vehicle spaces although larger car parks are nearby.

The station can be accessed by using the number 36 bus from Horsford, to Castle Meadows, then walking 0.8km to the station or by changing onto the 25, 26A or 7 bus services. Norwich station offers direct connections to London Liverpool Street, Cambridge, Great Yarmouth, Cromer, Liverpool Lime Street and many stations in between.

Access to the Horsford village centre from the Butterfly Mill development can be achieved via a newly constructed footway on both sides of the carriageway joining Mill Lane. These footways provide access to the local primary school and further transport options.

There are links through the existing footpath network to the north east at Horsford woods for recreational use.
