Side roads order

To enable construction of the Long Stratton Bypass the Council has made and obtained confirmation of the necessary side roads order.

The title of this order is 'The Norfolk County Council (A140 Long Stratton Bypass) (Classified Road) (Side Roads) Order 2022' (the "SRO").

The Council is the local highway authority. We made the SRO on 23 November 2022 pursuant to a cabinet resolution on 5 September 2022. The SRO was then submitted to the Secretary of State for Transport for confirmation.

On 28 November 2023 the Secretary of State for Transport confirmed the SRO with modifications.

The confirmed SRO authorises Norfolk County Council to:

• Improve highways (including raising, lowering or otherwise altering)
• Stop up highways
• Construct new highways
• Stop up private means of access to premises
• Provide new means of access to said premises

The SRO became operative from the date of its publication in the London Gazette and the Eastern Daily Press (EDP) on 12 December 2023.

The period in which to challenge the confirmation of the SRO expired on 23 January 2024.
