A11 northbound slip road
Expected start: January 2018 (pending agreement of proposals)
A consultation on the second phase of work in the area finished on 1 August 2017. The plans can be downloaded from the box above.
New Traffic Regulation Orders were advertised for the Prohibition ‘At Any Time’ Waiting restrictions and changes to the existing contraflow cycle lane, as shown on the plans.
The proposed waiting restrictions are on the sections of road from Roundhouse Way to just east of the existing signal controlled crossing, and a section further eastwards on the left hand bend to the A11 slip road.
On the long straight section of Newmarket Road, parking would be retained but the contraflow cycle lane would be made advisory adjacent to the parking sections so that vehicles using the road can pass any parked vehicles and legally cross into the cycle lane for that short distance.
Comments received during the consultation are currently being considered ahead of the final plans being agreed. This page will be updated with the final scheme details and next steps when they become available.
