South of the A1151 Wroxham Road the route of the A1270 NDR is crossed by the Newman Road bridge (private and non-motorised use only) before reaching the Salhouse Road Roundabout. The dual carriageway then goes over the Norwich to Sheringham Railway – the most significant structure on the route – and Plumstead Road. Construction of both these bridges is nearing completion.
Plumstead Road will be closed for four weeks from mid-January 2017 while it is realigned to a new roundabout that provides access, via a short link road and second roundabout to the NDR.
South of Plumstead Road, a bridge carrying Middle Road over the new road is nearing completion. Once it is carrying traffic, Smee Lane will be permanently closed, allowing the NDR dual carriageway to be completed through to Postwick.
This final section of the A1270 Norwich Northern Distributor Road is expected to open soon after Easter 2018.
