Road safety is an important life skill that children and young people learn more about the older they get.

Here are our key road safety messages for children and young people, broken down into themes, aims and key stages.

Main themes:

  • Being a pedestrian
  • Active travel
  • In car safety
  • Young drivers (KS3/4)

Key Stages

  • Early years to KS1
  • KS2 and lower KS3
  • KS3 and KS4, and higher education.

A good road safety education makes it easier for students to understand how to use roads safely.

Pupils should be encouraged to understand these behaviours and develop the skills to deal with real life situations.
