The first milestone has been accomplished! The first sapling of our 1 Million Trees for Norfolk project was planted as part of National Tree Week (28 Nov – 6 Dec 2020) and supported by The Tree Council.
This winter we’re arranging for contractors to do some initial planting focused on Norfolk County Council’s tenanted farms (County Farms), working in partnership with the Woodland Trust and The Tree Council. Unfortunately, there will be no volunteering opportunities this season due to the current circumstances, but we hope that during future planting seasons (roughly November to March each year) we can get as many people involved as possible.
How we measure progress
Keeping track of how many trees are being established is no small task. Our aim is to record the location, species and who carried out the planting for all trees established as part of the project. This information will also help contractors, landowners and volunteers maintain the trees for years to come. Working closely with partners on planned projects helps us to record this information accurately, and in the future we will be opening up ways for you to let us know about your trees too.
