EXPERIENCE

Experiential tourism to extend the visitor season

EXPERIENCE is a €23m project to attract visitors in the off-peak season, through a new ‘experiential tourism’ approach.

Unique autumn and winter activities and experiences will be developed to draw in tourists between October and March, to six areas across England and France:

  • Norfolk
  • Kent
  • Cornwall (Penzance area)
  • Pas-de-Calais
  • Compiègne
  • Brittany (Baie de Morlaix and Côtes d’Armor)

The activities and experiences will be based on the principle of sustainable tourism. This seeks to create lasting economic, environmental, and community benefits.

Driving up the number of visits and overnight stays in the off-season will boost local economies by:

  • Increased spending on regional experiences, accommodation, and eateries
  • The creation of year-round, rather than seasonal, jobs

EXPERIENCE aims to be a leading international example of innovative experiential tourism.
