Armed Forces flag raising ceremony message from the Chairman

I was delighted that so many turned out for the Armed Forces Flag Raising Ceremony and to observe a minute's silence to remember those who tragically lost their lives in the Grenfell fire last week.

Armed Forces day is a chance to show our support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community; from currently serving troops to Service families, veterans and cadets.

The UK Armed Forces defend the UK and its interests. They are busy working around the world, promoting peace; delivering aid, tackling drug smugglers, providing security and fighting terrorism. By having our ceremony we are showing our support for the Armed Forces which provide a much valued morale boost for the troops and their families.

The Armed Forces Covenant, a partnership between the serving population, charities and organisations which seeks to ensure that those who serve and have served in the Armed Forces and their families are treated fairly. Through this partnership we show the value and respect to which we hold the Armed Forces in Norfolk, during Armed Forces week and in the future.
