Children's services committee

The Children's Services Committee is responsible for services which help keep children and young people safe and fulfill their potential.

It incorporates schools and social care for children and families.

It has a particular focus on those children who are in care, and for whom the Council has corporate parenting responsibility.

The specific functions are:

  • Early years and child care
  • School improvement
  • Additional educational needs
  • Child protection
  • Children and young people in care
  • Fostering and adoption
  • Youth offending
