Prioritising Prevention: The Big Conversation

The Health and Wellbeing Board Conference 2020 was due to take place on 25 March. However, it was postponed due to the current Covid-19 outbreak, in line with government advice on non-essential travel and gatherings.

We have now provisionally rescheduled the event for Wednesday 9 September, 9.30am to 2pm. The venue is the Assembly House, Theatre Street, Norwich, Norfolk, NR2 1RQ.

All previous bookings will be transferred over to this new date and we will continue to monitor the current situation.

The keynote address will be given by Richard Murray, chief executive of the King's Fund.

Through the Health and Wellbeing Board (HWB), we're building important relationships across our health and wellbeing system to improve population health. Prevention and early intervention is an essential strand of this approach and our system is working together to promote policies and encourage action that improves opportunities for a healthy life.

Our annual HWB conference will provide an opportunity for partners to come together to explore how we can better use and empower the health and wellbeing system - taking in local government, the NHS, the voluntary and enterprise sector, the private sector and local communities - to 'Prioritise Prevention'.

We'll focus on how we can make positive strides in:

  • Improving the social determinants of health and wellbeing by, for example, joining up health and care, leisure, housing, transport, town planning, employment and education
  • Supporting healthy lifestyles
  • Ensuring health and care is focused on early intervention and supports recovery, enablement and independence
