Activity in each of our three strategic priorities (promoting the social and emotional wellbeing of pre-school children, preventing obesity and making Norfolk a better place for people with dementia and their carers) must also achieve the strategic goals of:
Providing help and support at an earlier stage before problems become acute
- Reduction of inequalities in health and wellbeing
Narrowing the gap in life expectancy between the most and the least deprived people in Norfolk.
Partners working together to provide effective, joined up services
Improving mental health
Mental health also threads through the three strategic priorities, and this strategy is committed to achieving ‘parity of esteem’ - valuing mental health equally with physical health.
Examples of this can be seen in the following areas:
- Improving maternal mental health (wellbeing of pre-school children)
- Combating prejudice and discrimination against obese people in the workplace (preventing obesity)
- Support for carers and their health and wellbeing (dementia)
