Minerals and Waste Development Scheme

The Minerals and Waste Development Scheme sets out the timetable for producing and reviewing minerals and waste planning policy documents, including those forming part of the Norfolk Minerals and Waste Local Plan.

On 11 October 2022, Norfolk County Council resolved that a new Minerals and Waste Development Scheme (PDF) [162KB] shall have effect from 11 October 2022.

Read a summary of changes (PDF) [184KB] that we made to the scheme to create the current version.

The first public consultation stage (Regulation 18) for the Norfolk Minerals and Waste Local Plan took place during July and August 2018 and was called the 'Initial Consultation'.

The second public consultation stage (Regulation 18) took place during September and October 2019 and was called the 'Preferred Options Consultation'.

The formal representations period (Regulations 19 and 20) on the Publication version of the Norfolk Minerals and Waste Local Plan started on 28 September 2022 and finished on 19 December 2022.

We submitted the Norfolk Minerals and Waste Local Plan to the Planning Inspectorate for independent examination on 20 December 2023. Read further information about the Norfolk Minerals and Waste Local Plan Examination.

The examination hearings are scheduled to take place from 2 July 2024 to 4 July 2024 (inclusive).

The Inspector's report is expected to be received in autumn 2024.

Therefore, the current Minerals and Waste Development Scheme will need updating.
