Statement of Community Involvement

The Statement of Community Involvement explains how Norfolk County Council intends to involve the community in the preparation of Minerals and Waste planning policy documents and the consideration of planning applications.

Norfolk County Council formally adopted the first Statement of Community Involvement on 5 March 2007, in accordance with The Town and Country Planning (Local Development) (England) Regulations 2004.

Since the Statement of Community Involvement was adopted in 2007, there have been changes to the Council's constitution, changes to the Regulations on the production of planning policy documents (in 2008 and again in 2012) and changes to a number of the organisations consulted.

In addition, Norfolk County Council has introduced e-planning. Therefore, on 6 September 2012 Norfolk County Council formally adopted an updated version of the Statement of Community Involvement (April 2012 update) to reflect these changes.

A separate document has been produced detailing the changes made in the April 2012 version of the Statement of Community Involvement and the reasons for those changes.

Two documents are available below:

A live update of the Statement of Community Involvement has been produced to reflect the following changes since 2012:

  • Chapter 2 has been amended to reflect the adoption of the Core Strategy and Development Management Policies DPD, the Minerals Site Specific Allocations DPD and the Waste Site Specific Allocations DPD;
  • all references to Council Information Centres have been removed as there are no longer any Council Information Centres;
  • Appendix 2 has been amended to contain the current procedure for asking questions at Committee, as published on the County Council's website;
  • Appendix 5 has been amended to contain the current procedure for speaking at Planning (Regulatory) Committee, as published on the County Council's website.

Here is the live version of the Statement of Community Involvement at March 2017.
