Welcome to the Norfolk Music Service.

The service aims to:
• promote high quality music education in Norfolk schools both in the curriculum and through instrumental and vocal teaching
• promote and encourage all children as music makers
• provide a broad and balanced programme of music making opportunities including ensembles, that reflect and promote cultural diversity
• work collaboratively with all partners in Norfolk and with other LA services to achieve the aims of the LA and the County Council
What does the Music Service provide?For children in school
• Instrumental teaching for all children
• Whole class instrumental teaching
• A music curriculum for the foundation stage, KS1 and KS2
For all children throughout the County
• Weekly ensembles and bands
• A County Youth Orchestra, Intermediate County Youth Orchestra and a Symphonic Wind Band
• Jazz Bands for all levels
• Residential weekend courses
• Workshops
• Grade 5 theory classes and GCSE listening days

Norfolk Music is a good music service with some outstanding features which is very focused on providing a high quality musical experience to as many children as possible within the context of a large rural County. In addition they are actively involved with Sing Up and are on target to have every school in the area designated as a singing school by 2011.
The main strengths of the service are:
• the dedicated leadership and management team;
• the quality of teaching and learning;
• a highly effective performance management and staff support system.
