All the following steps need to be completed to enable a Devolution Deal for Norfolk to proceed:

  •  On 17 January 2023, the Full Council discussed the deal and then Cabinet decided to progress it.
  • Consultation took place from 6 February to 20 March 2023.
  • On June 5 the Cabinet agreed to submit the County Deal consultation findings to the Government.
  • Full Council decided in December 2023 to approve the deal.
  • Members of Full Council will decide in July 2024 whether they support the move to an elected leader and cabinet system of governance. If agreed, this would then enable some initial funding to flow and for the full benefits of the deal to start in May 2025, with elections for a leader.

Public consultation

Our public consultation has now closed and, as mentioned above, the consultation results were considered by Cabinet on June 5.
