Friends against scams

As part of Norfolk Trading Standards commitment to the National Trading Standards Scams Team we are introducing the Friends Against Scams training programme in Norfolk.

Friends Against Scams aims to protect and prevent people from becoming victims of scams by empowering communities to "Take a Stand Against Scams". This is achieved by looking to tackle the lack of scams awareness by providing information about scams and those who fall victim to them. This information enables communities and organisations to understand scams, talk about scams and cascade messages throughout communities about scams prevention and protection.

Friends Against Scams encourages communities and organisations to take the knowledge learnt during the sessions and turn it into action.

How can I become a Friend Against Scams?

To become a Friend Against Scams you need to undertake a short training session. This can be done online by visiting the National Trading Standards website and completing the online session. The online session takes around 60 minutes and contains loads of great scams awareness advice, information on how scams target people as well as how you can spot possible victims of scams in your community.

Having undertaken the session you can download your certificate to show you are a Friend Against Scams and if you are interested in sharing our message further you can register your interest in becoming a Scamchampion.

Norfolk Trading Standards will also be delivering sessions to Norfolk County Council Services, existing and new partners, businesses, organisations, charities, Third sector and community groups.

If you think your company, staff, service, organisation or group could benefit from Friends Against Scams training email to find out more about our training package.
