Family learning
As a parent or carer, you are one of the most important teachers in your child's life.
Our free family learning workshops:
- Help you understand what your child is learning in school
- Offer practical tips to support your child's learning at home
- Are informal, engaging, and non-judgemental
- Cover core subjects like English and Maths
- Cover topics such as cooking for families, environmental awareness, and online safety
Our qualified tutors mainly deliver workshops in schools. We also welcome enquiries from home educator groups or those interested in online sessions.
We require a minimum of 6 adults for online sessions.
Workshop topics
English
- I Wasn't Taught Like That - for key stage 1 (KS1) and key stage 2 (KS2). This is a parent-focused workshop. It showcases grammar which you wouldn't have been taught if you went to primary school before 2014. It includes:
- Conjunctions
- Subordinate clauses
- Passive voice
- Phonics
- Current expectations for writing and reading
- English through Story Sacks - for KS1. This is a family-focused workshop.
- English through Illustrated Books - for KS1 and KS2. This is a family-focused workshop.
- English through Real Writers - for KS2. This is a family-focused workshop.
Maths
- I Wasn't Taught Like That - for KS1 and KS2. This is a parent-focused workshop. It showcases modern maths:
- Language
- Concepts, such as partitioning, number bonds
- Methods, such as number lines, arrays, multiplication grids
- Visual maths and use of equipment, such as Numicon, Base Ten, bead strings
- Maths through Games - for KS1
- Maths through Football - for KS2
- Maths through Baking - for upper KS2 (years 5 and 6)

Family wellbeing courses
Our wellbeing courses aim to support your family's overall wellbeing by helping you:
- Manage your child's anxiety

- Support children with a neurodiversity, or suspected (undiagnosed) neurodiversity
