Everyone owns the right to their own creativity so knowing what's protected in your business and what's not is essential. Intellectual Property (IP) is any original creation that can be bought or sold. If you are a business person, an inventor, an artist or an author, IP will affect you. In this session we'll focus on four key areas of intellectual property: design, patent, copyright and trademark. There will be an introduction of each area with some discussion of how to recognize your IP and how best to protect it. We will then discuss some of the difficulties faced such as concepts and methodologies, with a Q&A to finish. This is one of a series of Spotlight bitesize business courses that take place in the 2nd Air Division Memorial Library on the ground floor of the Norfolk & Norwich Millennium Library. Booking is essential.

An essential part of running a business is keeping control of the money invested in it - understanding where the money comes from, where it goes, and why sometimes there's not as much left over as you expected! As with weather forecasting, you'll have to consider how to cope with the rainy days as well as relaxing in the sunny ones. Too many businesses fail to thrive due to lack of adequate financial management - insufficient initial investment, poor control of cash flow, setting prices that are unprofitable or being lax in enforcing trading terms. This Spotlight event looks at many of the financial aspects that need your attention as a new or an existing business. We'll help you understand how money makes the wheels of your business go round and what you have to do to ensure they don't come to a stop. This is one of a series of Spotlight business courses that take place on Wednesday evenings in the 2nd Air Division Memorial Library on the ground floor of the Norfolk & Norwich Millennium Library. Booking is essential.
