Taking its name from the wherry, a large cargo-carrying barge whose black sails were a once common sight on these waters, Wherryman’s Way runs through the heart of the Broads, winding along the banks of the River Yare, through open marshes, reedbeds, grazing meadows and riverside villages.

Whilst enjoying the unique Broads landscape and rich wildlife, look out for installations of stainless steel wherry sails, engraved timber benches, sculptures and information panels.

Temporary route change

From 13 June 2019, a section of the Wherryman’s Way circular walk will be closed due to a broken boardwalk.
