Asbestos removal and disposal

We do not accept asbestos at any of our recycling centres, even during our hazardous waste events.  Our advice is that you should have asbestos removed by a specialist asbestos removal and disposal contractor.  You can find specialist contractors in your local telephone directory or online.

You can pay to dispose of some types of asbestos at the following facilities (they do not offer a collection or removal service.)  Not all forms of asbestos are classified as the same type of waste and certain forms are not accepted.

Please contact these facilities first to ask about current charges, opening times and correct disposal procedure and let them know when booking what form the material takes (for example, 'corrugated roofing', 'gutter downpipe' etc) so that staff may advise you on whether the material can be accepted.

Find more information about how to identify and handle asbestos safely on the Health and Safety Executive website.
