Norfolk Fire & Rescue Service is recruiting for Team Programme all year for teams in January, May and September.
Team is a free 12-week personal development course for 16 to 25-year-olds who are not in employment, education or training. It does not affect any benefits, so you can still receive any allowances that you receive. All travel costs are reimbursed.
The course includes a team building residential week, participation in a community project and a two-week work placement, with many of the young people securing employment or volunteer opportunities from the placement. In fact, 3 out of 4 young people who complete our course go on to employment, training or education at the end of the programme.
We are also currently Covid-19 Secure, adhering to the government guidelines set out by the Department of Education and also our own protocols as a Fire Service.
Over 12 weeks the course helps young people develop and improve skills in key areas such as:
The course is accredited and you will leave with a Prince’s Trust Certificate in Employment, Teamwork and Community Skills, as well as Emergency First Aid at work (HSE Approved). We also have strong links with many agencies and professionals around the county, who visit during the course to share their knowledge, skills and time with the young people, ensuring that the support they receive is right for each individual.
We have three delivery points around the county delivering TEAM Programme;
Our start dates are January, May and September.

“One of the reasons I joined Team was because I didn’t have an idea on how to get where I wanted to be in life and having a young daughter I wanted to do more for her and be able to support her in the future.”
“During my two-week work placement whilst on Team I was at a supermarket and have now secured myself a full-time job there so I can start to get on with my future.”
“During Team I was offered a full-time job with my work placement in my dream job, I’m now able to give my family the life they deserve and have also applied to become an on call firefighter.”.
“At University, I felt lonely and as if I was wasting my time, I found it hard to work with other people due to the fact that they didn’t want to work with me because of my autism and I was often victim to cyber bullying. I’d like to thank the members of my Team for reminding me of the great things about growing up, such as becoming friends with people from all different backgrounds and experiencing new things together.”
NFRS has been delivering Team since 2002 and working in partnership with the Princes Trust & College of West Anglia for more than 12 years as the provider of the Team Programme across Norfolk. During this time we have worked with more than 2,500 young people enabling them to move forward to a more successful future.
If you are a professional working with young people, feel free to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We can ring you at a mutually convenient time to discuss the course and confirm suitability of any young person that you may have in mind.
