Prince's Trust Team programme

Team is a free personal development course for young people who are not in full-time employment, education, or training.

We run the Team programme in Norfolk in partnership with the Prince’s Trust and the College of West Anglia.

What is Team?

Team aims to help young people get back into education or work. It’s also a great opportunity to build confidence and self-esteem, gain new skills, and meet new people.

The course is full-time and runs over 12 weeks. During the course you will:

  • Go on an exciting residential week where you’ll do team-building activities like raft building, abseiling and orienteering
  • Choose a community project to make a positive difference to your local area, and work on it with your Team mates
  • Go on a work experience placement
  • Write a CV, practice interview skills, and set goals for your future
  • Take on a team challenge to help people in the local community
  • Get an 'Emergency First Aid at Work' qualification
  • Have information sessions about wellbeing and planning for the future
  • Meet our fire crews and experience firefighting equipment

Everyone who completes Team will get a Prince’s Trust Certificate in Employment, Teamwork and Community Skills.

Who can join the Team course?

You can join Team if you are:

  • 16 to 25–years-old, and
  • Not in full-time employment, education, or training

What does it cost?

Team is a free course, and it won’t affect any benefits that you receive.

All travel costs will be reimbursed.

Feedback from young people

"I did the Team programme because I wanted to improve my confidence, work on my social skills and to just keep myself busy and get me out of the house. Completing Team has made me have more confidence when speaking to others and it has brought out the best in me which has helped when working with others in my team.”

"Completing Team gave me the confidence to pursue paths to a career I had already given up on doing, as well as a tonne of new experiences that I will never forget. It has allowed me to get back into working towards a future I had given up on.“

"Before I was on the team programme I was directionless in my life. I decided to join the team programme as a means to improve my employability so that I could get a job. I’ve changed during my time on the team program, I’ve gained friends, improved my confidence, learnt to talk more honestly about myself."

"I joined team so i could get out more, and have something other than my Xbox to get out of bed for. Personally for me, making new friends on this course has boosted my confidence, I now go out and spend time with them and have even joined the gym. I think the part I enjoyed the most about the whole of the 12 weeks would have to be residential, and that’s because it was a fun active week."

"I feel like Team has really helped me open up about some of my problems to people and allowed me to be myself and become more comfortable in my own body, before I would try to always try to “Be normal” around people as I was scared that they would judge me or take the mick, but now I don’t feel that as much and it feels nice to be able to really be myself and feel accepted."
