SEND transformation programme

We've promised to invest £120m to transform special needs education in Norfolk. We want all children and young people in our county to have a good education, at a school close to their home, so they can reach their potential and lead fulfilling lives.

The programme involves creating 500 extra specialist school places across the county by:

  • Building up to four new specialist schools
  • Creating new specialist units in mainstream schools, or expanding existing ones
  • Doing more in the community and giving more support to mainstream schools

You can also find out more about our SEND transformation project below.

The Department for Education has awarded us £9 million over 4 years to support the creation of new school places and the improvement of existing facilities for children and young people with SEN and disabilities in Norfolk. Our special provision plan shows where we have used this money, who was consulted and when.
