Family Information Service

Nursery children and workers 720 x 480

What is FIS?

The Norfolk Family Information Service (FIS) is an information and signposting service for parents, carers, young people, and professionals. We offer free, confidential, and impartial information about local services and support for children aged 0-19 years (or up to 25 for children with disabilities). These include funded early education and childcare, home learning and related services in Norfolk.

There is also online information and advice in Children and families and Norfolk Education Online.

Signposting service

We can also direct you to other services and organisations which can help you. We work closely with libraries, Jobcentre Plus, Early Childhood and Family Services and many more to support children and their families.

Home learning

Home learning is everything a child experiences with their family that influences their development and lifelong achievement. We promote the importance of a child's first 1001 days of life and the impact this period can have on a child's later development and ability to learn.

Help to find childcare

We offer a brokerage service helping you find childcare. We prioritise families who have children with SEND, who are having problems finding early education and childcare in their area.

We support the creation of additional childcare places in areas of greatest need.
