Oil tanks
Empty oil tanks (both plastic and metal) can be taken to any of our recycling centres. Oil tanks can be very large and will not fit in the recycling centre bins whole. To accept them it must be fully drained of any oil and you will need to break up the tank into smaller pieces. The bins on site are either chest height or possibly up the steps so please bring people that can help you carry the item safely, site staff may assist where possible. Please consider visiting the recycling centre before you bring the item to discuss the disposal with site staff.
Specialist oil tank replacement companies will recycle your old tank as part of their services. Please search Norfolk Trusted Trader's directory for 'oil tank installers' to find a company near you.
Oil tanks are chargeable by volume as part of our DIY policy.
Email recycling@norfolk.gov.uk in advance so that we can make sure there is space at your chosen recycling centre for the tank.
Full or partially full oil tanks are not accepted at our recycling centres. Look for specialist waste disposal contractors in your local telephone directory or online. Remember to ask to see a Waste Carriers Licence and find out where the waste will be disposed of.
