What we use your information for
We may use the information about you for compliance with regulatory and statutory duties associated with the governance and management of schools in particular:
- Appointment and balloting of governor representation on overview and scrutiny committee in relation to education
- Operations linked to the Schools Causing Concern responsibilities
- Review and preparation of Instruments of Government
- Formulation and implementation of agreed council procedures for the nomination and appointment of Local Authority Governors
- Supporting with the forming of governing boards for various structural solutions
- Local authority governor appointment and constitution reviews
We also use this information to assess the quality of our services and evaluate and improve our policies and procedures.
We may also use information in other ways compatible with the above.
What personal data we collect and use about you
We will collect and use:
- Current and previous contact details - title, name(s), address(es), email address, telephone contact details
- Current governorships (type of governor, any positions held on the governing body and term of office)
- Previous governorships (type of governor, any positions held on the governing body, terms of office served and reasons for resignations/suspensions)
- Training records (of attendance at Norfolk County Council organised/commissioned training events/training updated to your personal records)
- Signed declarations
- Information provided by individuals as part of an application form to facilitate the Local Authority Governor appointment procedure

We receive most of this information from you, but we may also obtain some of this data from:
- School involved
- The Clerk to Governors or
- Individual governors/prospective governors
Who we may share your information with
We may share your information with:
- The school where the governor is or has been a governor
- Other Norfolk County Council departments/services where it is appropriate to discharge their duties in line with the role of Norfolk County Council
- The Department for Education
- Appropriate regulators - Ofsted, Regional Schools' Commissioner
- Central and local government

Your personal information will be retained for 6 years from the date that your appointment as governor ends, after which it will be securely destroyed/deleted.

The information is securely stored electronically for example shared folders and email accounts and in paper files.

We do not make automated decisions about you.

We may amend this privacy notice at any time so please review it frequently. The date below will be amended each time this notice is updated.
