Buses and taxis
Changes to the city's road network have been designed with improving bus journey times in mind. Bus Rapid Transit routes are being put in place across the city and so far include Chapel Field North, St Stephens Street, Grapes Hill and sections of Dereham Road, Thorpe Road and Cromer Road / Aylsham Road.
Buses are directed through the city centre via the 'green corridor', which connects the top of St Stephens Street to the railway station through Castle Meadow and Prince of Wales Road.
Taxis are also benefitting from these routes, with authorisation to use both bus lanes and access areas controlled by bus gates.
Our Bus Service Improvement Plan
Over the past few years, the Department for Transport (DfT) has awarded the county council over £50m of funding for its Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP), aimed at improving bus services and infrastructure facilities across the county. The plan includes measures such as integrated travel hubs, new and more frequent services and bus priority infrastructure schemes.
