Asda - railway station right-turn

About

To change the existing traffic signalised junction to provide a right turn lane out of the access road to the Asda superstore and the railway station onto Acle New Road.

When

From Monday, 8 January 2018 for 12 weeks - scheduled to finish by end of May 2018.

Why

To reduce congestion and delays on Vauxhall Roundabout. The current traffic signal junction in and out of the railway station and Asda does not permit right turns, and drivers have to make a U-turn via the Vauxhall Roundabout to go in the direction of the town centre. The addition of a right turn lane will take this traffic off the roundabout, reducing congestion and shortening journey times.

Likely disruption

During the work, there will be a series of multi-way temporary traffic signals and lane closures to control traffic in each direction, which will replace the current permanent traffic lights at the junction. Access to all businesses in the area will be maintained. Some road closures will be necessary during weekends between late April and late May, although no closures will take place on the bank holiday weekends.
