Libraries for schools

Norfolk libraries are keen to engage with schools to encourage and facilitate children's access to books and reading. School visits to libraries can support children to enjoy reading for pleasure. The library can give children and young people access to books and other resources which are not available at home or in school libraries. We can teach children how to use the library by encouraging them to choose books for themselves. Visits also allow us to showcase the wide range of free library resources available to children and young people, throughout their reading journey into adulthood.

We offer free visits to library branches throughout the academic year, for all key stages or year groups. We can also deliver school assemblies in your settings, promoting libraries, books and reading, and the annual Summer Reading Challenge.

If you would like to arrange a visit or an assembly, contact your local library branch or email us at libraries@norfolk.gov.uk.
